Welcome to SafeDrop — a Horizon Europe project building a bio-inspired, multimodal photonic–electronic sensor platform that works like a digital dog nose for rapid, on-site diagnostics.

What we aim to deliver
SafeDrop will integrate silicon-photonic Mach–Zehnder interferometers with thin-film transistors in co-localised K-cells, deposit a cross-responsive organic-semiconductor coating library via ESJET printing, and decode multimodal fingerprints with AI/MIMO analytics — all in a field-deployable cartridge targeting ≤ €10 cost and <1 W power.

On the horizon
Following a successful kick-off at Fraunhofer IAP on 18–19 June 2026, the consortium is now entering Month 3. Up next: the public website and communication channels go live, requirements and specification work accelerates under WP1, and the first project newsletter reaches subscribers.
